Keep right is a simple android game made with haxe/nme, and is available for free on Google play, if anyone wants to check it out.

You can see a quick summary of how to play on the google play page, but how I personally play is with the thumb of my left hand on the top left corner of the screen (so that I can still see the ball easily).

I enjoy it, but then I am particularly biased. My highscore for level one is 390.

(If you search for it, you'll probably have to put quotation marks around keep right: "Keep right". Apparently I chose a terrible name.)

Re: Keep right

Nice!

The controls did throw me off a little as well at first. When I got it working, I thought I had to hold my finger over the green paddle, which was a bit hard.

Maybe you could set it up so the paddle moves towards the position of your finger? Then you would be able to press, hold and drag, as you do now, but if you tapped or tapped and held, you would also see movement from the paddle. For one reason or another, tapping or tapping and holding seems the most natural for controlling on a phone (while the click and drag feels comfortable with a mouse)

I also had trouble searching for it on my phone. I found it when I searched "keep right game". Strange to get Netflix as the second result for "keep right" smiling

Re: Keep right

Thanks!

Yeah it turns out the controls weren't very well designed. They were a lot more intuitive when I made it for my old iriver spinn.

I like the idea of moving the paddle toward your finger, though I worry that it may be more difficult to control the bar's velocity that way, which I think is a design flaw in the game. It's possible that I could implement the ghost-catch-up method I had for the spinn. That may help.
I was also thinking about making a mirror mode (swap the +/- sides) which may be better suited for people who are right-handed.

You're right; the flash version is way easier than the android version. And I have noticed that prolonged dragging feels really weird, although that may be specific to my phone's surface (I doubt that).

Haha yeah next time I'm going to be sure to just make up a word.

Oh well, lots learned!

Thanks for playing!
